Selecting Your Steadicam

The most important factor to consider when selecting a Steadicam is the weight of the camera and accessories you wish to use with the Steadicam. Using a Steadicam for a load outside its recommended weight range will result in poor performance.

How to Determine the Load:

  1. Remove all batteries from your camera. The Steadicam battery will provide power to your camera. (Note: The JR batteries will power the camera so you should include the battery weight in determining the load)
  2. Place the camera and all accessories you intend to use on a scale and determine the weight.
  3. Use the Chart below to link to the Steadicam(s) that can be used for your desired load. You can also download our Steadicam Comparison Chart (PDF).
